Multi-Fuel System Features

Earth Day 1997 Celebration, Roger Williams Park, Providence, RI

Welsh Technologies Multi-Fuel Systems incorporate numerous safety features and engineering to ensure years of trouble free operation. All Multi-Fuel Systems are engineered and manufactured to exceed the specifications and requirements of the National Fire Protection Association, Pamphlet #58 for LPG (propane) and Pamphlet #52 for CNG (compressed natural gas), the governing U.S. body regarding the safe use and handling of gaseous alternate fuels. Numerous states Department of Transportation's have granted formal approval of Welsh Technologies Multi-Fuel Systems for school and transit busses: the first for any system in the alternate fuel industry. Listed below are just a few of the numerous features incorporated into Welsh Technologies Multi-Fuel System products:

"3HT" Each component of the Multi-Fuel System is tested three times during the manufacturing process utilizing the lightest gas 'Helium' in water baths to ensure no leakage of alternate fuel.

"Zero Leakage Standard" Welsh Technologies specifications do not permit any leakage, unlike the industry standard of 'bubble leaks'. The Welsh Technologies standard ensures that you can garage your vehicle indoors.

Multi-Fuel System Controllers incorporate triple redundant safety control to ensure that gaseous fuels never pools in the cylinders; even during multiple stall conditions.

Multi-Fuel System LPG (propane) Fuel Reservoirs are either manufactured to DOT or ASME standards, depending on the model. LPG (propane) reservoirs are constructed for a working pressure of 240 PSI; with a safety factor of five (5x).

Multi-Fuel System CNG (compressed natural gas) Fuel Reservoirs are constructed for a working pressure of 3,000 PSI with a safety factor of two (2x). No expansion (fatigue) of the reservoir is permitted unlike industry standards.

"Zero-Release" Quick-Fill. On-board refueling models of the Multi-Fuel System  incorporate 'Zero-Realease' Quick-Fill that along with Welsh Technologies Reservoirs provide for the simple. quick, and safe refueling of gaseous fuel, without the requirement of the now prohibited 'spit valve'. The Quick-Fill can be installed immediately adjacent to the existing fuel fill without marring of the vehicle's appearance.

"Reservoir With-In Reservoir" Technology is incorporated in all Welsh Technologies Multi-Fuel System Fuel Reservoirs. This patented technology handels the thermal expansion of the gaseous fuel into secondary compartment of the reservoir; thus allowing the total fueling of the primary compartment. The secondary compartment is engineered to be in excess of 30% of the main compartment to handle virtually any temperature storage conditions that may be encountered by vehicle operators and fleets.

All Fuel Reservoirs including LPG (propane) and CNG (natural gas) models, incorporate internal self-adjusting spring release pressure release valves. Industry standard 'Burst Disk' are not permitted.

Only small quantity of additional fuel on-board a vehicle is required.

All components of the Multi-Fuel System are only installed in the vehicle's safety zone, not  the crush zone, for impact protection.

All fittings of the Multi-Fuel System utilize double ferrule design with ten (10) levels of seals with rated pressure ratings of 35,000 PSI to ensure years of vibration proof service.

Welsh Technologies Multi-Fuel Systems have been engineered to minimize the requirement for fuel lines and connections; reducing the potential of leak conditions.

All fuel lines and reservoirs are metallic. No Plastic storage vessels or fuel lines, that leak small quantities of gaseous fuels due to their molecular structure, are permitted in the Multi-Fuel System.

Multi-Fuel System Controllers incorporate a patented electronic engineering to immediately shut-off fuel flow in the event of off-condition or stall.
